I had a workshop this week so the fam came with me via Amtrak. Gus’ first train ride.

We didn’t bring a car seat so we took the bus to the hotel which ended up being about as easy and fast as a taxi. Didn’t have the same business trip feel though. Nor did rocking up… »

Aunt Lani wrote this email which really says it all:
“First, how about them Ducks! I’m really happy we were able to get together even though I am so backward I don’t have ESPN. Jake got it up on my computer though, so we could check in on the score.

San Juan Islands on Labor Day weekend -what a treat. What a plethora of delights.
Ferries, swings, whales, cool island friends. mostly finished houses, local island bands, farmers’ markets and scary barbers.
Such a wonderful visit.
Such a treat to get good quality time with some of my very favorite relos.

Jen & Jeffre were in Washington for a wedding so we met them in Seattle and they were kind enough to bring baby Madelief along.  I even got to walk her to sleep at one point during dinner. Heaven.

Then the next morning, after pancakes at a hip Seattle diner, we all got stuck waiting for… »
